This guide provides Community Administrators and User Administrators with the steps necessary to manage user account access. Specifically, addressing locked accounts (due to security protocols) and disabled accounts.
Managing Locked Accounts
For security purposes, a user's account is automatically locked after five incorrect password attempts.
How to Unlock a User
- Navigate: Go to the Administration module and select Users.
- Filter: Click the Filters button to expand search options.
- Search for Locked: In the State field, select Locked, then click Apply Filter.
- Action:
- Locate the desired user in the results and click Edit.
- In the pop-up box, click the Unlock button.
- Click Save.
Enabling Disabled Accounts
Accounts may be disabled manually or due to failed invitations.
How to Enable a User
- Navigate: Go to the Administration module and select Users.
- Filter: Click the Filters button.
- Search for Disabled: In the State field, select Disabled, then click Apply Filter.
- Action:
- Locate the desired user and click Edit.
- Check the Enabled box.
- Verification: If the user was disabled because they never received their invitation, double-check that their email address is correct. Update it if necessary.
- Click Save.
Post-Action Instructions (Next Steps for the User)
Once you have unlocked or enabled an account, the user must follow a specific process. To get back into the system depending on your community's login method:
| Login Method | Instructions for the User |
| SSO Auto-Provisioning | Simply ask the user to log back in using their standard institutional username and Single Sign-On (SSO) process. |
| Standard (Non-SSO) | Ask the user to go to the Unimarket login page and select Forgotten Password. They will receive an email to set a new password. |
IMPORTANT
User Invitations: Original user invitations cannot be resent. For Non-SSO users, the "Forgotten Password" workflow is the standard way to regain access once an account is re-enabled.
Key Rules to Remember
- Administrator Role Required: Only users with the Community Administrator or User Administrator role can perform these actions.
- Audit Trail: Every time an account is unlocked or enabled, the action is recorded in the system audit trail for security purposes.
