Beacon (Unimarket) AI Assistance

Beacon is Unimarket's AI assistant (built into the Nova platform) is an intelligent support tool designed to help employees quickly find information, complete tasks, and improve productivity. Through automated insights and natural language interactions.. 

It helps users answer procurement questions themselves. Reducing the back-and-forth on procurement teams and giving users the guidance they need, in the moment.

Important Note:

This is a premium feature. If your community is interested in the Beacon AI feature, please contact your Customer Success Manager.

 

Prerequisite

  • Unimarket AI Guide toggle enabled, within the community.

  • Accessible to all users (regardless of their roles) and the Beacon role.

 

When to Use Beacon?

Use Beacon AI Assistant, when you need to:

  • Quickly find internal information without manual searching.
  • Understand processes or policies.
  • Complete routine operational tasks faster.
  • Reduce back-and-forth communication across teams.

 

How to Access Beacon?

Dependent upon the community's configuration, Beacon AI can be accessed 2 ways:

 

Option 1: Beacon AI module

  • Select the Marketplace module.
  • Click the Beacon AI icon.

 

  • You will land on the full screen version of Beacon AI. To create a new conversation and view your conversation history:
    • Conversation: Create a new chat Beacon AI conversation.

 

  • Conversation History: View all past chat conversations, that will appear in a list. You can click on the specific past conversation title to view details (e.g. Find black pen suppliers).

 

Option 2: While in a specific module (i.e. Marketplace, Invoices)

  • Click the icon and the Beacon AI chat widget box will appear.

 

Beacon Features

  1. Welcome Message: The welcome message is configured by the community and may provide sample topics/information the user can ask/obtain using Beacon
  2. Text box: Key-in your question (e.g. "What suppliers can I purchase black pens from?")
  3. Submit Question:  Submit the question by clicking the Send icon ().
  4. Auto field: The option will default to Auto, and can be utilized for a general procurement search. Dependent upon the community's configuration, options to tailor your search by subjects (e.g. Contracts), can be accessed when selecting the dropdown.
  5. Minimize chat: Click the down arrow to minimize Beacon. All data contained within the chat box will be stored for future reference, unless you click New Chat.

 

  1. New Chat: Upon selection, the current conversation with Beacon, will close and start a new conversation. The New Chat option will only appear during a current conversation.
