In Unimarket, Location Codes serve as the physical destination and billing pointers for every order. Because these are filtered by Organization Unit (Org Unit), administrators can ensure that users only see the addresses relevant to their specific department or campus.
Core Functionality
Checkout Selection: During the final stages of checkout, users must choose a Bill To (where the invoice goes) and a Ship To (where the goods are delivered) from their available options.
Org Unit Filtering: You can control address visibility by assigning locations to specific Org Units. This prevents a user in the "Chemistry Dept" from accidentally shipping an order to the "Athletics Warehouse".
Behavior: Unimarket will default to each user's last used Ship-To location when creating a new requisition, unless the user is copying a requisition. In which case, it will copy the same Bill-To and Ship-to details from the original requisition.
Accessing Location Management
To manage these addresses, you must have the Community Administrator role.
Navigation: Go to the Administration module > Organizations > select your Organization Name.
And click the Locations tab.
Setting Community Defaults
You can establish a primary "Bill To" and "Ship To" address that serves as the standard for your entire organization.
Bill To Default: On the Billing tab, use the Default Location dropdown to select an address and click Select.
Ship To Default: On the Shipping tab, use the Default Location dropdown to select an address and click Select.
NOTE:
User Defaults: While you set community defaults, Unimarket smartly defaults individual buyers to their last used Ship-To location. To save the buyer time during frequent ordering.
Adding New Locations Manually
If you only need to add a few addresses, you can do so directly within the tabs:
Choose the Type: Select either the Billing or Shipping tab depending on the address type.
Add Address: Click +Add Location.
Required Info: Fill in the fields marked with a red asterisk (such as Name, Display Name, Address Line 1, City, and Zip).
Save: Click Save to add the address to your organization's database.
The "Display Value Name" Tip
The Display Value (Name) is what your buyers actually see in the dropdown menu during checkout. It is highly recommended to make this name clear and descriptive (e.g., "North Campus - Main Warehouse") so users can distinguish between similar addresses quickly.
Critical Reminder on User Profiles
Updating or deleting a location at the community level does not automatically change the specific default locations a user may have manually saved in their personal User Profile settings.
Editing Location Codes
You can update the physical address or the name of a location at any time.
Navigate: Go to the Administration module > Organizations > your Organization Name > Locations tab.
Select Type: Choose the Billing or Shipping tab.
Search: Use the Search by Keyword field or scroll to find the address.
Edit: Click Edit, update the necessary fields in the pop-up, and click Save.
IMPORTANT Database Logic: When you edit a location code (like changing its name), Unimarket treats it as a new database entry. If a user had the old version as their "last used" default, the system will automatically assign this updated version as their new default.
Deleting Location Codes
If an address is no longer valid, you can remove it to prevent users from selecting it during checkout.
Impact on Users: If you delete a Ship To address that a user had set as their default, that field will be cleared on their checkout screen. The system will then automatically revert to their next "last used" valid address or the community default.
To Delete: Locate the address in the Billing or Shipping tab and select Delete.
