Buyer Cannot Create a Non-Catalog Order for a Punchout Supplier

  • Updated

This article explains why a punchout supplier's name is not listed as option, to select. When creating a non-catalog order to purchase.

Limits & Notes

  • Not all punchout suppliers support non-catalog orders.
  • Supplier capabilities depend on the supplier's punchout integration and system configuration.
  • The non-catalog option cannot be enabled by the buyer.

Cause

Some punchout suppliers has disabled setting Allow Non-Catalog Items in their profile (located in Profile > Configure Store). These suppliers expect all purchasable items to be available through their punchout catalog and therefore restrict buyers from submitting non-catalog orders.

Resolution

  1. Search the supplier's punchout catalog for the item you need.
    • Confirm that the item is not available in the catalog.
  2. Contact the supplier.
    • Inform them that you are unable to locate the item in their catalog.
    • In many cases, the supplier can add the item to their catalog.
  3. If the item cannot be added to the catalog, ask the supplier whether they support non-catalog ordering.
    • Suppliers can update their punchout configuration to allow non-catalog orders if their system supports them.
  4. If the supplier confirms non-catalog ordering is supported:
    • Ask the supplier to log into their profile, go to Profile (on the left side panel) > Configure Store > General tab > Under Orders header, check Allow Non-Catalog Items box > select Save and
    • Reach out to a Supplier Administrator or Community Administrator. To ensure the Allow Non-Catalog Purchasing setting is enabled within the supplier's profile.
