How to Move a Rule within a Ruleset

Users with the Community Administrator role can reorder approval rules within a ruleset. Since rules are executed from the top down, organizing them in the correct order (specific matches before generic ones) is critical for proper routing.

 

Accessing the Ruleset

  1. Navigate: Go to the Administration module > select Approvals > click the Rulesets tab.

  2. Select Ruleset: Click on the name of the Ruleset (e.g., Special Account Approval) to view a list of all account code rules under this ruleset and their assigned routing chains.

 

Option 1: Move a Rule Using the Arrows

This is the simplest method for moving individual rules a short distance:

  • Select the up or down arrows on the right side of the screen. To manually move a rule to the desired place within the ruleset.

 

Option 2: Recreate the Rule

This option is useful if the ruleset has many rules and you want to ensure precise placement:

  1. Delete: Select the Delete icon next to the rule you are looking to move.

  2. Add Below: Find the rule that will be directly above the new position, and select +Add Below next to it.

  3. Add Rule: Add the rule through the normal process.

 

Option 3: Export and Import of the Rules (Bulk Movement)

This is the recommended option when dealing with a large number of rules that need significant reordering:

  1. Export: Select More Actions > select Export Rules > click the here hyperlink.

 

  1. Download: Download the generated CSV file from the Task Menu > Background Jobs.

  2. Edit Order: Open the Excel file. The rules are listed in the same order, as in Unimarket. Find the rule(s) you need to move and adjust their position within the spreadsheet.

  3. Import: Save the file and return to Unimarket. Select the More Actions menu > select Import Rules.

  4. Finalize: Select Browse and locate the file to import. Click OK once the correct file is selected, and the rules will start importing in the updated order.

 

After making any changes, it is recommended to run a Test on the ruleset. To ensure proper functionality.
